Young Female Reporter Has Snappy Answer For Those Who Just Want Her to Be Cute
Serious about reporting
Lysiak is serious about her career. At just 9 years old, she reported a murder in her neighborhood, even before the local news channels got hold of the story. Some people actually told her to stick to “tea parties and dolls.” But she had an answer for them:
“I know some of you just want me to sit down and be quiet because I’m 9, but if you want me to stop covering news, then you get off your computer and do something about the news. There, is that cute enough for you?”
Ambition, not cuteness, lands her a book deal
Well, it seems young Lysiak got the last word. She landed a book deal with publisher Scholastic that will publish her books that target children ages 6-8. The main characters are Hilde and her older sister, Izzy. In the books, they are -- you guessed it, reporters. Her first book will come out in the fall of 2017 and is entitled Hilde Cracks The Case.
Lysiak will write four mystery books with the help of her father, Matthew Lysiak, who was a New York Daily News reporter.
