Another Women's Business Center Opens -- The Second One in This State
What are Women's Business Centers?
Women's Business Centers (WBCs) are a national network of nearly 100 educational centers throughout the United States and its territories, funded by grants from the SBA. The centers are designed to assist women to start or grow their own small businesses.
Why Women's Business Centers are so important
The centers are under the SBA’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership who oversees the entire WBC network. They are very important to women entrepreneurs who often face obstacles in the business world. The SBA provides assistance for women entrepreneurs, especially women who are economically or socially disadvantaged. The centers provide comprehensive training and counseling for women entrepreneurs on a wide range of topics.
Central Missouri Community Action director Darin Preis said the center will offer classes on entrepreneurship, micro-loans and other topics. It will feature guest speakers such as area bankers, women business owners and lawyers. The center will offer its services to people at all income levels, but will focus on low-income residents.
